About This Website's Design |

The
"template" for the page on this site was created using tables
with background colors. The basic layout has 3 columns and 4
rows. The columns on the left and right have a fixed width of 100
pixels, while middle column has no fixed width. This allows the
center column to expand or contract when the window is resized, while the
outside columns remain the same size. I did the same thing with the
rows. The top row has a fixed height of 50 pixels, the next row has
a fixed height of 15 pixels and the bottom row has a fixed height of 25
pixels. The row that this text is in does not have a specified
height. This allows the top row to become a "header", the
second row a "divider" and the bottom row a
"footer". The footer will show at the bottom of the window
(providing there isn't too much text), no matter which display setting you
use (800x600 or 1024x768). I chose the colors from the browser
safe color palette. This design allows me to add color and
shapes to the site without adding graphics which increase download time.
